Question: Just curious if you know how I might go about reporting a traffic signal that is malfunctioning. I was going west on Stevens Creek earlier today and got to Woodhams and the light on the far left was signaling for the eastbound traffic, not westbound, even though it's facing westbound. It's far off to the side so probably won't cause any confusion, but just seemed odd.
Answer: First determine if Stevens Creek is a State route or a local street. Since there are no State route numbers on this street on any map, it is a local street. Then I got on Google Maps and typed "Stevens Creek & Woodham", and Google very nicely told me the intersection is in Santa Clara. Then I did a search for "City of Santa Clara" and searched through the Department listing until I found Traffic Engineering. I called them and learned they just had a crew at that same intersection on Tuesday fixing a similar sounding problem. The man on the phone said he would send a crew back out to check it out.
